Coats and Colors

There are only two types of coats recognized in the standard, which are brush and horse, although every now and then a puppy will be born with long hair, which we call bear coat. It is rare: since 2006 it has happened to us only once. It is due to the fact that in the past, when the breed almost disappeared, they mixed one chow-chow in the genetic. As for colors, only solids are accepted in standard and it can go from cream to black, including chocolate, blue, etc.

Some colors are more rare than others, like blue and lilac because it is a recessive gene. Although the demand is higher for these dogs, we sell them for the same price than others, but we are very careful in our selection of buyers. Blue and lilac shar peis tend to have a more dominant personality, therefore we will look for experienced shar pei owners or people that have had dogs before.
